New Hood Scoop - Eliminate Blinding Reflections

If anyone wants a set, i could do for cost (of the vinyl) plus shipping. Vinyl cost is about $1.75 and postage would be whatever USPS charges... I am not sure how long my vinyl will last in the elements, but for the cost, it will be easy to replace.
Has anyone thought of scuffing that place with sandpaper and making it dull?

I asked that in reference to OOOO steel wool. It wasn’t well received.

in all honesty, before you mar the paint...use something over that paint, even a matte color paint. something that could be buffed off or removed. that said, sfucc it a use a matte trim color black and be done. it should be fine and wear well in that area. you dont want to open or dmage the clear, that is just looking for coatings issues in a very short time.

The clear coat isn't very thick and if you go through it, it will start delaminating. Just get some flat black plasti-dip and mask off the area.

Seems like the OP has dropped off this thread. I would happily buy a graphics file and have my local print show print it up on some matte vinyl.

I have rolls of vinyl, and a chip board pattern. Just not the machine...always wanted to get a small plotter, now i just run it to my friends PPF shop. He has a large plotter

finally gave up , gonna spend a few hundred $$$$ to get the thing painted matte black by a body shop , I ain't taking the hood off to get decals to possibly line up and then fade and / or peel off , already wasted $35 once . I don't have 4' arms to stretch across the hood and possibly line em up . So taking the easy way out and doing it the way it should have been done to begin with

How is the scoop attached to the hood?
the hood insulator pc is help by clips just pop em out , the scoop is held on by by a few clips and threaded pcs that you have to unscrew . then you have the fun of compressing the clips and popping off the scoop. may want to people , 1 to compress clip and another to use a plastic wedge to help pop the scoop, thats how the body shop did it , then i got my truck back while they painted the scoop satin . No more glare and to me looks 100 times better

Sorry I have been awol.. Work and life took over last several months. Any questions, I can answer. I can share cut file or can still cut and sell some.

i like the idea of going matte on the scoop. the portion that has always been an issue for me is the inside run of each raised section. the rear has never been an issue for me...just the inner legnth running down the hood, that pass side gets me every time i drive it.

Interestingly I just saw a 2024 Colorado ZR2 on the dealer lot and the scoop on that is matte black. Wonder if Chevy would do this for 2025 on the Trail Bosses and Silverado ZR2's
